Canadian Central was saddened by the news of the loss of George “Elwood” Harvey on July 3.    For many years Elwood was active in both the credit union and cooperative movements serving on many boards and committees, including chairing the board of Credit Union Central of Saskatchewan (SaskCentral) for five years, and as a director on the boards of The CUMIS Group and Affinity Credit Union.  From 1999 to 2004, Elwood served as a director on Canadian Central’s Board.  Principled and dedicated to the betterment of the credit union system and his community, Elwood was awarded the Queen’s 50^th Anniversary Medal for community leadership in 2002.  Elwood’s many contributions to credit unions and cooperatives in Canada culminated with his induction into Canadian Central’s Hall of Fame in 2005.  

Donations may be made in the memory of Elwood Harvey to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital or to the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation (1702-20^th Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9).
