Peter Galloway, Chair of the Servus Credit Union Board of Directors, has announced the appointment of Steve Blakely as the new President and CEO of Servus Credit Union, effective March 26.
"The reputation and performance of Servus Credit Union attracted a large number of qualified candidates," Galloway said. "Steve Blakely stood out in terms of his vision for the future of our credit union, his past accomplishments and the energy he brings to these responsibilities."
"I look forward to working with the board, leadership tam and staff at Servus Credit Union to build on the excellent work they have done in making this one of Canada's outstanding credit unions," Blakely said.
Blakely comes to Servus Credit Union from the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (CUDGC), where he served for five years as President and CEO. CUDGC regulates and monitors all Alberta credit unions. His 35 years of experience in the financial industry includes stints with ATB Financial and Bank of Montreal.
Blakely takes over from Harry Buddle who is retiring after 20 years with the credit union. Buddle became president of Capital City Savings in 1987 and retained that position when it merged, last November, with Servus Credit Union and Safecu Credit Union.
The organization now has 185,000 members and 900 employees at 50 locations.
